Pediatric orthopedics is the specialty that is responsible for recognizing and treating orthopedic conditions, deformities and fractures in children to prevent them from having consequences in the future.
The differences between a normal growth process or a pathology can be subtle or small. Consulting with an expert helps reassure families and resolve these concerns.
Since my medical degree, I loved pediatric orthopedics. For this reason, I directed all my complementary training towards this branch. In the summer of 2013, I went for an internship at the University Hospital of Coventry & Warwickshire (United Kingdom) with Mr. Cooke. I did some additional training at the Hospital Universitario Niño Jesús (for 6 months) and at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children with Prof. D. Eastwood (for 2 months). When I was already a consultant, in September 2022, I went to Sheffield Children’s Hospital with Mr. Fernandes, Mr. Nicolau and Mr. Giles and carried out a visiting fellowship on osteogenesis imperfecta.
I currently work as a specialist in pediatric orthopedics at the Hospital Universitario Getafe and the Hospital Universitario Niño Jesús since 2020.
