Paediatric Surgery Home Visits in Madrid

Paediatric surgical assessment, post-operative follow-up, and wound care at home with specialised and compassionate care.

What is paediatric surgery?

Paediatric surgery is the medical specialty responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of surgical conditions in babies, children, and adolescents.

In addition to performing surgical procedures, a large part of the paediatric surgeon’s role involves assessing common childhood conditions, guiding families, providing post-operative follow-up, and monitoring the progress of wounds and surgical treatments.

Home-based care allows many of these assessments and treatments to be carried out from the comfort of the patient’s home, avoiding unnecessary travel and making follow-up more convenient for both the child and their family.

Who will carry out the paediatric surgery consultation?

Santiago de la Puente – Paediatric Surgery

I graduated in Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2018 and am registered with the Official College of Physicians of Madrid. I completed my specialist training in Paediatric Surgery through the Spanish MIR programme at the Niño Jesús University Children’s Hospital, one of Spain’s leading tertiary paediatric centres, where I continue to work alongside my private practice.

I am a member of both the Spanish Society of Paediatric Surgery (SECIPE) and the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association (EUPSA), regularly attending and presenting at their scientific meetings. During my training, I was awarded the Resident Scholarship Award on two occasions. I have also participated in international paediatric surgical outreach missions with SOS Children’s Villages in Equatorial Guinea.

My clinical practice includes extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and endoscopy, with a particular focus on general, gastrointestinal, and paediatric urological surgery.

I believe that children are our future, and their health is our greatest priority. My commitment is to provide the highest standard of medical care while ensuring that families receive clear, up-to-date information, building a relationship based on trust, empathy, and open communication.

Why choose a consultation with us?

At Equipo Médico Ordovás, we work with a multidisciplinary approach that allows paediatric surgery to be coordinated with other paediatric specialties whenever needed.

Many paediatric surgical conditions require shared follow-up with general paediatrics, orthopaedics, dermatology, or paediatric urology. For this reason, our model of care allows us to:

  • Assess the child comprehensively
  • Coordinate follow-up with other specialists
  • Detect complications early
  • Provide personalised post-operative care
  • Reduce unnecessary hospital visits

Our goal is to provide specialised, compassionate, and family-centred care, tailored to the needs of each child and family.
