Paediatric Neurology Home Visits in Madrid

Specialist neurological care for babies, children, and adolescents from the comfort of your home.

What is paediatric neurology?

Paediatric neurology is the branch of medicine dedicated to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of disorders affecting the nervous system in children, from birth through adolescence.

This specialty covers a wide range of conditions, including developmental and learning difficulties, as well as specific neurological disorders such as migraine, epilepsy (seizures), and motor function impairments.

The paediatric neurologist adopts a holistic approach, focusing on the growth, development, and acquisition of neurological skills at each stage of childhood. It also considers the impact of these conditions on the child’s daily life and their family environment.

Neurological conditions we manage at home

While headaches are often tension-type (described as a pressure), paediatric migraine tends to be more intense and is frequently associated with nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, and increased sensitivity to light or noise.

Seizures are sudden, abnormal electrical discharges in the brain that can cause jerking movements, stiffness, or “absence” episodes (brief disconnection from the environment). Epilepsy is diagnosed when a child has a neurological predisposition to experience recurrent seizures without an immediate trigger (such as high fever).

These occur when a child has persistent problems with reading (dyslexia), writing, maintaining attention, or mathematical reasoning, which interfere with their academic performance.

Tantrums are common emotional outbursts caused by the immaturity of the child’s brain in regulating emotions. However, if they are extremely intense, frequent, violent, or persist beyond early childhood, they may indicate underlying neurological difficulties in sensory or emotional processing.

Occurs when expected communication milestones (both understanding and expression) are not reached for the child’s age. It may be noticed if the child has a very limited vocabulary, is unable to form sentences, or does not respond appropriately when spoken to.

A structured evaluation—using observation, play-based tasks, and questionnaires—to determine whether the child is meeting expected motor, cognitive, language, and social milestones for their age, enabling early identification and management of any concerns.

What can a paediatric neurologist manage during a home visit?

A paediatric neurologist providing home care offers a comprehensive, neurodevelopment-focused approach, including early assessment of development, learning, and related difficulties (such as language delay and school challenges), as well as the management of specific issues like sleep and routines, socialisation, behaviour, and tantrums.

In addition, they provide diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for well-recognised neurological conditions such as headaches and migraine, seizures and epilepsy, as well as abnormal movements and motor disorders.

Neurología pediátrica

She graduated in Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid (2008–2014) and is registered with the Official College of Physicians of Madrid.

She is a specialist in Paediatrics with a subspecialty in Neurology, having trained at Guadalajara Hospital, Gregorio Marañón University Hospital, and La Paz University Hospital. She currently works as a paediatric neurologist at Hospital del Tajo.

Learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental disorders make up a large part of her clinical practice. Over the years, she has witnessed the impact these conditions have on both children and their families, often being underestimated or not given the attention they deserve.

For this reason, she provides a thorough and individualised approach, and believes that assessment in a calm, home environment can significantly improve outcomes.

She graduated in Medicine from CEU San Pablo University in Madrid (2014–2020) and completed a Master’s degree in the Integration of Medical Knowledge and its Application to Clinical Problem Solving in 2020. She is registered with the Official College of Physicians of Madrid (registration number: 282883008).

She is a specialist in Paediatrics and its specific areas, trained in leading hospitals such as Fundación Jiménez Díaz, Gregorio Marañón University Hospital, 12 de Octubre University Hospital, and Niño Jesús Children’s Hospital, where she developed her subspecialty in Paediatric Neurology. She currently works at Hospital Clínico San Carlos, in both the paediatric emergency department and inpatient ward, while continuing her specialised training in Paediatric Neurology at Niño Jesús Children’s Hospital.

Throughout her career, she has participated in international cooperation programmes and research projects, and was awarded the SENEP 2025 scholarship by the Spanish Society of Paediatric Neurology. These experiences have given her a broad and compassionate perspective on paediatric care, extending beyond the hospital setting.

She has had a clear vocation for paediatrics since childhood. Today, she continues to believe that caring for children is not only about treating illnesses, but also about supporting them and their families at every stage of development.

Providing home-based care through Equipo Médico Ordovás allows her to dedicate the necessary time to each child, assessing all aspects that influence their well-being. Her goal is to combine high-quality, up-to-date medical care with the reassurance and trust that families seek when a paediatrician visits their home.

Neurología pediátrica

From an early stage, I knew my vocation lay in paediatrics. I trained as a paediatrician at Getafe University Hospital, where I built a strong foundation in general paediatrics and in the comprehensive care of both healthy children and those with acute and chronic conditions. This period was key in developing a holistic understanding of child development and long-term family support, and it became the starting point for what is now my true passion: paediatric neurology.

With the aim of specialising further, I completed my training as a paediatric neurologist at 12 de Octubre University Hospital in Madrid, where I consolidated my clinical expertise and reinforced the importance of providing close, empathetic, and compassionate care to both patients and their families.

After this stage, I began my professional career at Gregorio Marañón University Hospital, where I continued to grow both personally and professionally, expanding my clinical experience.

In 2023, I was awarded a scholarship by the Spanish Society of Paediatric Neurology, marking the beginning of my doctoral thesis, which is currently in progress.

At present, I have the privilege of being part of the Institute of Neurosciences in Madrid, working at Vithas Aravaca Hospital and Vithas Majadahonda Medical Centre—a highly motivating project that reflects my commitment to specialised, comprehensive, and child-centred care.

Being part of Equipo Médico Ordovás is also a valuable addition to my clinical practice, as it allows me to assess patients in their home environment, where children feel more comfortable, calm, and secure, dedicating the necessary time for a careful and personalised evaluation.

Alongside my clinical work, I am also involved in teaching, an area I am deeply passionate about. I am an Associate Professor in the Medicine degree at the European University of Madrid and teach on the Master’s in Advanced Therapies at Francisco de Vitoria University.

I strive to maintain a holistic view of the child and their family environment, offering guidance during moments of uncertainty surrounding a diagnosis and helping families navigate the next steps. These situations can often be particularly challenging, and my goal is to support each family, ensuring they feel understood and accompanied throughout the entire process.

Benefits of a home neurological consultation

At Equipo Médico Ordovás, we have a multidisciplinary team of professionals across different paediatric specialties working in a coordinated way, including paediatric neurology, general paediatrics, and other areas of child development. Many neurological conditions in childhood do not appear in isolation, but rather present as difficulties in development, learning, language, sleep, behaviour, or emotional regulation.

Choosing a paediatric neurology home consultation offers multiple benefits, prioritising the comfort and well-being of your child and family:

  • No need to travel from home
  • Personalised care from specialised professionals
  • Reduced stress for both the child and the family
  • Assessment in the child’s usual environment
  • Guidance and developmental screening adapted to the home setting
  • Coordination with your paediatrician or other specialists if needed

This approach enables a more comprehensive, practical, and family-centred evaluation, tailored to each child’s needs.
