Home Psychiatry in Madrid
Assessment and treatment of mental health conditions with specialist care in your home, delivered in a close, confidential, and personalised manner.
Psychiatry is the medical specialty responsible for the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of mental health disorders, addressing biological, emotional, and behavioural aspects alike.
A psychiatrist not only prescribes treatment, but also carries out a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s situation, taking into account their environment, medical history, and personal circumstances.
Home psychiatric care allows assessment and intervention within the patient’s own environment, facilitating better treatment adherence and a deeper understanding of their real-life situation, particularly in cases where travelling is difficult or causes anxiety.

Dr. María García López
I am a consultant psychiatrist working from a holistic perspective, with the aim of providing personalised, compassionate, and patient-centred care. I graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed my specialist training in Psychiatry at La Princesa University Hospital, where I gained extensive clinical experience and developed an integrative approach to mental health treatment.
Throughout my professional career, I have gained experience across different areas of psychiatry. I worked within the Mental Health and Intellectual Disability Service (SESM-DI), focusing on the care of individuals with intellectual disabilities and behavioural difficulties. I have also cared for Ukrainian refugees with mental health disorders, an experience that strengthened my awareness of the needs of vulnerable populations and the importance of an individualised approach that respects functional, social, and cultural diversity.
Since early 2023, I have been working at Hospital del Henares, providing outpatient consultations within the Community Mental Health Service, caring for people with anxiety, depression, and other mental health difficulties. Since 2024, I have also been part of the Community Care Programme, focused on supporting patients with severe mental illness, such as psychosis or bipolar disorder, through a close, continuous, and personalised approach.
I have complemented my training with a Master’s degree in Integrative Psychotherapy from the University of Alcalá and a Master’s degree in Legal and Forensic Psychiatry from the Complutense University of Madrid. These areas enrich my clinical practice and reinforce my commitment to providing comprehensive, person-centred care.
In my clinical work, I place great importance on active listening and empathy, supporting each patient throughout their therapeutic process with sensitivity, clinical rigour, and an individualised approach.
