Neonatology Home Visits in Madrid

Specialised care for newborns and premature babies in your home, with professional follow-up from the very first weeks of life.

What is neonatology and why is it so important in the first days of life?

Neonatology is the branch of paediatrics dedicated to the study and care of the newborn during the first month of life. It focuses on the transition to life outside the womb, respiratory adaptation, feeding, monitoring of jaundice, umbilical cord care, and the assessment of neurological and motor development.

Home neonatal care service

A comprehensive session, delivered either in person or via telemedicine, designed to equip expectant parents with the essential knowledge and skills for their baby’s arrival. Key topics include preparing the home environment, managing the first hours of life, recognising warning signs, and the fundamentals of basic newborn care.

An intensive, personalised follow-up protocol for neonates born preterm or with a lower-than-expected birth weight. It focuses on monitoring growth patterns, the maturation of organ systems, and ensuring optimal nutritional development.

Specialised support across different neonatal feeding methods, including exclusive breastfeeding, expressing and handling breast milk, as well as mixed feeding and formula feeding.

A systematic evaluation of developmental milestones, including primary reflexes, muscle tone, visual tracking, and early head control. Age-appropriate guidance on early stimulation is also provided.

Routine follow-up assessments tailored to the needs of a healthy newborn, including evaluation of weight, length, and head circumference. These are typically structured as weekly visits (especially during the first month), followed by fortnightly reviews, and a final assessment at one month of age.

Clinical assessment and follow-up of physiological or mild neonatal jaundice. This includes monitoring bilirubin levels (through clinical evaluation or non-invasive measurements where possible), provided the condition does not require hospital-based phototherapy.

Guidance and practical demonstration on umbilical cord care, neonatal hygiene, and skin care.

Non-invasive measurement of essential vital signs, including oxygen saturation and heart rate, when clinically indicated or deemed necessary for follow-up.

Medical graduate from the Complutense University of Madrid (2010–2016). Registered with the Official Medical College of Madrid under registration number 281904092. PhD in Health Sciences (Cum Laude) from the University of Alcalá de Henares.

Specialist in Paediatrics with subspecialisation in Neonatology. I trained at La Paz University Hospital and Clínico San Carlos University Hospital, both national reference centres. I currently work at Getafe University Hospital in the Neonatology and Emergency Department. In addition, since joining Equipo Médico Ordovás, I have developed a different approach to my profession, caring for patients outside the hospital setting, where they feel safer and more supported by their families.

I have always had a strong interest in teaching, which led me to train as an instructor in both paediatric and neonatal resuscitation (CPR). This has enabled me not only to train healthcare professionals in managing critically ill patients, but also to educate families, teachers, and caregivers through first aid workshops, helping them respond effectively in emergency situations.

I discovered my vocation for paediatrics while studying medicine and volunteering in children’s homes. Since then, I have been committed to giving my very best to each and every one of my patients.

El doctor Antonio Ruíz

Born in Córdoba, I graduated in Medicine from Francisco de Vitoria University (Madrid) and completed my Paediatrics residency at Severo Ochoa University Hospital in Leganés. I subsequently focused my training on Neonatology, completing a Master’s degree in Neonatology at the University of Barcelona, with specialised training at Sant Joan de Déu Hospital and Hospital Clínic de Barcelona—both leading centres in the care of newborns and premature infants.

My professional career has been particularly focused on the neonatal period and the management of newborns, including cases of high clinical complexity. This experience allows me to provide a rigorous, precise, and evidence-based assessment from the very first days of life.

I believe in a form of paediatrics that is unhurried, highly individualised, and grounded in knowledge. I take the necessary time to examine, explain, and support families. In the early days of a baby’s life, every detail matters, and every decision can raise questions—providing clarity and reassurance is an essential part of care.

My commitment is to deliver high-quality, personalised, and confidential medical care, particularly focused on newborns and young infants.

Because when it comes to a child, excellence is not a luxury—it is a responsibility.

La doctora Silvia Domínguez es pediatra especializada en neonatología a domicilio en Madrid

Medical graduate from the European University of Madrid in 2015, with specialist training in Paediatrics at Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital in Tenerife. Although my main passion is Neonatology—my current field within the Quirón healthcare group—I have also had the opportunity to work and train in Primary Care, as well as in Paediatric Emergency and Acute Care settings. This broad experience has allowed me to develop a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of paediatrics, enabling me to provide high-quality, personalised care to my patients.

Over time and through experience, I have come to fully appreciate the truth behind the phrase, “children are not just small adults.” This goes beyond the differences in diseases and treatments; understanding how a child’s mind works and adapting to their needs requires great sensitivity, empathy, and experience. Each stage of a child’s development—from birth through adolescence—requires healthcare professionals to apply a range of both varied and highly specific skills, not only for the child but also for their parents. These are competencies I have developed throughout my career as a paediatrician.

I greatly value the relationships we build with families during each consultation, supporting them at every step throughout their children’s development.
