Paediatric Dermatology Home Visits in Madrid
Diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions in babies, children, and adolescents. Specialised care in the comfort of your home.
Paediatric dermatology is the medical specialty focused on the diagnosis and treatment of skin conditions in babies, children, and adolescents.
Children’s skin has different characteristics from that of adults: it is thinner, more sensitive, and responds differently to infections, allergies, and irritants. For this reason, many skin conditions require assessment by specialists with expertise in paediatric dermatology.
Early evaluation allows for an accurate diagnosis, helps prevent complications, and ensures the most appropriate treatment is provided for each child.
Atopic dermatitis
This chronic inflammatory skin condition is characterised by intense itching (pruritus), dryness, and eczematous lesions. It is common in childhood and is often associated with allergic conditions such as asthma or allergic rhinitis.
Skin infections
Children are susceptible to a variety of skin infections caused by bacteria (such as impetigo, cellulitis, or folliculitis), viruses (including molluscum contagiosum, viral warts, or herpes), and fungi (such as ringworm affecting the scalp, body, or feet).
Paediatric skin lesions
Treatment of angiomas and vascular malformations, including birthmarks involving blood vessels, such as infantile haemangiomas (which typically grow and then involute) and port-wine stains.
Monitoring and assessment of melanocytic naevi (congenital or acquired) to rule out atypical features or melanoma risk.
Nappy rash and miliaria, common irritations and inflammatory skin conditions seen in infants.
Urticaria and skin reactions
Sudden appearance of hives that may move from one area to another and usually resolve within 24 hours. They can be acute or chronic.
Angioedema: swelling that affects the deeper layers of the skin.
Drug-related skin reactions.
We aim to identify the underlying triggers and provide symptomatic treatment with antihistamines.
Acne in adolescents
Characterised by comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), papules, pustules, and, in more severe cases, nodules and cysts. It is a common reason for consultation and can have a significant psychosocial impact.
Skin, hair, and nail disorders
Skin conditions: such as paediatric psoriasis, vitiligo, and pityriasis rosea.
Hair conditions: including alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, and trichotillomania.
Nail conditions: such as infections, dystrophies, or trauma.
A paediatric dermatologist providing home visits offers a comprehensive assessment of the skin in children and adolescents, diagnosing and treating common conditions such as atopic dermatitis (eczema), skin infections (bacterial, viral, or fungal), urticaria and other allergic reactions, and adolescent acne.
They also monitor moles, birthmarks, angiomas, and other skin lesions that may concern families, as well as assess persistent conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails—all without the need to leave home.
