After several years working as a pediatrician in the public healthcare system, I decided in 2016 to launch a personal project: bringing healthcare into people\u2019s homes. That\u2019s how Equipo M\u00e9dico Ordov\u00e1s was born\u2014today made up of around 40 professionals from different areas of healthcare, and attending to over 7,000 patients a year.<\/p>\n<p>I was born in Dublin and raised in Madrid, with a British mother and a Spanish father. At home we spoke \u201cSpanglish\u201d, and that blend of cultures has deeply shaped my way of seeing the world. Medicine gave me not only a vocation, but also a family: I\u2019m married to a Venezuelan surgeon and I\u2019m the mother of four children (and a dog).<\/p>\n<p>Through my children, I\u2019ve learnt things you won\u2019t find in textbooks: breastfeeding techniques, infant colic, healthy sleep habits\u2026 I\u2019m a doctor by profession and a mother by vocation, and both roles have taught me the empathy that children \u2014 and parents \u2014 so often need. At the end of my 4 years of pediatric training, I did the subspecialty of pediatric pneumology and allergology during my last year of residency. This is a very useful subspecialty in the field of general pediatrics.<\/p>\n<p>I have oriented my professional career to primary care in a health center in the eastern area of Madrid where I enjoy putting my pediatric knowledge into practice, as well as accompanying families in the growth and development of their children. In addition, since I have been a member of the Ordov\u00e1s Medical Team, I have given my profession a different approach; caring for patients outside the healthcare environment, where they feel safer and more protected by their families.<\/p>\n<p>I have always enjoyed teaching and so I decided to train as a paediatric and neonatal CPR instructor. This has allowed me not only to teach my colleagues how to care for the most serious patients, but also to instruct families, teachers and caregivers to be able to act in case of emergencies in First Aid Workshops.<\/p>\n<p>I discovered my vocation for paediatrics when I was a medical student and volunteering in children&#8217;s homes. In R2 I had my second child and in R3 I had my third. This, and having been trained in a hospital where family medicine residents did a lot of pediatric emergency duty led me to discover my passion for primary care pediatrics and to want to develop in this professional field. My dream would be to be the physician for families, from newborns to grandparents, and so I see both pediatric and adult patients at various health centers in the Northwest area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanks to my personal circumstances I have been trained in breastfeeding, infant sleep and aspects of parenting that sometimes do not strictly pertain to the health care setting, but do pertain to the families I treat. I specialized in Pediatrics at the Infanta Cristina University Hospital in Parla, and further sub-specialized in the field of Pediatric Endocrinology at the Ram\u00f3n y Cajal, La Paz, and 12 de Octubre Hospitals in Madrid.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, I practice Pediatric Endocrinology at the hospital where I completed my residency. In addition, I provide pediatric care at home as part of Dr. Rebecca Ordov\u00e1s&#8217; medical team. I am fluent in English and French, and I have always had a strong affinity for working with children. I moved to Donostia to do my residency in pediatrics where I specialized in pediatric intensive care, when I finished I returned home where I started working in different hospitals in Madrid both in pediatric emergency and intensive care. I currently work at Hospital Cl\u00ednico San Carlos in the Pediatric Emergency and Inpatient Departments, while continuing advanced training in Pediatric Neurology at Hospital Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout my career, I have participated in international cooperation programs and research projects, and I was awarded the SENEP 2025 Grant by the Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurology. This stage was key to developing a global vision of child development and continuous family support, becoming the starting point for my true passion: child neurology.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">Driven by the desire to delve deeper into this field, I completed my training as a pediatric neurologist at the <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"112\">Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre<\/b> in Madrid. There, I consolidated my clinical knowledge and reinforced the importance of offering close, empathetic, and human care to both patients and their families. Upon completing this stage, I began my professional career at the <b data-path-to-node=\"5\" data-index-in-node=\"383\">Hospital Universitario Gregorio Mara\u00f1\u00f3n<\/b>, where I continued to grow both personally and professionally, broadening my clinical experience.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">In 2023, I was awarded a grant by the <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"38\">Spanish Society of Pediatric Neurology<\/b> (Sociedad Espa\u00f1ola de Neurolog\u00eda Pedi\u00e1trica), a recognition that marked the beginning of my doctoral thesis (PhD), which is currently in progress.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">Currently, I have the privilege of being part of the <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"53\">Institute of Neurosciences<\/b> in Madrid, working at <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"102\">Vithas Aravaca Hospital<\/b> and <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"130\">Vithas Majadahonda Medical Center<\/b>. This is an exciting project that reflects my commitment to specialized, comprehensive care focused on the well-being of each child and their environment.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Likewise, being part of the <b data-path-to-node=\"8\" data-index-in-node=\"28\">Equipo M\u00e9dico Ordov\u00e1s<\/b> brings significant added value to my clinical practice. It allows me to examine and assess patients in their family environment, where children feel more comfortable, calm, and safe, dedicating the necessary time to a careful evaluation adapted to their reality.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">I combine my clinical practice with teaching, a field I am deeply passionate about.
